The primary grape grown in the Black Pug Vineyard is the Cold Hardy Brianna grape. The Brianna grape is a white wine grape developed by Elmer Swenson. It is very vigorous and winter hardy. It is rated to at least -20 degrees F. The Brianna grape ripens in mid September and produces wine that will have a pineapple nose and flavor.

In Bella Uva Vineyard we grow two types of grapes.  The first grape pictured to the left is the Norton/Cynthiana grape.  Norton (also known as Cynthiana) is a natural hybrid of Labrusca and Aestivalis and is often referred to as "the Cabernet of the Ozarks". Norton produces small to medium clusters of firm, round, black berries that ripen very late and require a warm growing season. Excellent disease resistance. Norton produces a rich, medium to full-bodied red wine with a dry character similar in style to Cabernet Sauvignon, but with more spice.

The second grape grown in the Bella Uva Vineyard is the Concord Grape.  Concord is the most famous American grape with vigorous, hardy and productive vines that produce medium sized clusters bearing large blue-black berries. Concord grapes are tough skinned, flavorful and highly aromatic - an all purpose grape used to make grape jelly, juice, grape flavored soft drinks, and candy. Concord is used for kosher wines or as a varietal or blender for sweet wines.
